On 06-03-2009 we received a report of a 8 ton excavator which in a national park near Weer-Ribben(Friesland) slipped of his pontoon and appeared to sink in the swamp.
We've asked our collegue Broekhuizen to go the scene to provide us the necessary information.
The only way to reach the location was by boat.
After our collegue Broekhuizen provided us with pictures via e-mail, we've gathered the appropriate chains and disks for our Mercedes Unimog.
The Mercedes Unimog was loaded on our trailer and traveled to Friesland on monday 05.00 by Herman and Reijer.
On arrival we drove Unimog off the trailer and drove it through a field to the pontoon.
After about 25 minutes by boat our employees reached the obstacle,
André Broekhuizen also reached the scenbe and the owner of the excevator.
After writing down a salvageplan, our guys ankered down the Unimog to a pontoon, with help of the winches and the assisantance of a recently arrived crane.
After the disks and chains shot through the air, because that much force was needed to pull the excevator that had been swollowed by the swamp, we managed to free it around noon.
With all our available force we've lifted the machine on the pontoon and brought it back to an open area where a thugboat and a crane could dock the pontoon and the machine.
The excevator has been lifted of the pontoon at night and moved to Wolvega.
The thugboat and the pontoon returned to the swamp in fall of the night and the Mercedes Unimog, Reijer, Herman en André travelled through the swamp to steady land.
After an exhausting day of about 17 hours our guys went to bed in our Volvo FM.
The next morning we've cleared the sight of all used materials and the travel to Buren could start again. After cleaning and fixing the used equipment, which took a whole day, we're ready for the next job.
As you can see our Mercedes Unimog does an exellent job under these kind of conditions.
